They had a spare room due to availability of houses in the Skull Metallica St. Louis Cardinals Flag Shirt but in fact I love this area (you literally paid more for a 3 bed compared to a 4 bed) but other than that had very little money. They either needed to rent out the 4th bedroom to a lodger (not really possible with 2 young children), or the Mum needed to return to full time work, else they risked losing the house. Daycare was insanely expensive and would cost them more than she would make back at work, but an au pair was cheap enough to work. In the US, you are required to go through a government-approved agency to host or be an au pair. The host family pays a hefty fee to the agency, and part of that amount pays for the au pair’s health insurance for their time in the states. I don’t have one, but when I was talking to my cousin who has one, it sounds like they pay the au pair program a fee to get coverage for them.

I’d never try being one after the Skull Metallica St. Louis Cardinals Flag Shirt but in fact I love this horror story of a woman I heard who had her passport stolen, was starved, and then drowned in the tub. Probably a rare case but still chilling. The specific case may be rare, but au pairs being taken advantage of and being barely more than slaves isn’t rare. glad to see some actual rational thinkers in the sub for change! I made much the same comments in my reply. Its really a pretty decent gig if you’re young, like kids and are looking to travel and see new places. Friend of mine from high school did it and she loved it, its stable employment, you get to live in a really nice place and since virtually all your expenses are paid, you can bank most of your pay and save up … she used it to goto culinary school and start a business “The title comes from the French term au pair, meaning ‘at par’ or ‘equal to’, indicating that the relationship is intended to be one of equals: the au pair is intended to become a member of the family, albeit a temporary one, rather than a traditional domestic worker. “
