Back in Minnesota I was friends with like half a dozen women from south America who were au pairs and their families didn’t treat them all to well. Usually the Skull Metallica Pittsburgh Penguins Flag Shirt Besides,I will do this mom would try to stick them with the baby after their contract hours because the mothers just don’t want to parent at all. They want a kid, not a baby. I feel this. I dated an au pair for a few years and it was messed up. She had to babysit for other families in the area to make ends meet in addition to her au pair work Dude, I literally used to work full time, and after paying rent and groceries had 500 euros to spare as well. It’s called working. I loved being an au pair. Lived in Paris, babysat maybe 4 evenings over two years, my regular hours were 3-7pm Monday to Friday, I had a whale of a time. The problem is when people claim it’s an au pair pidition, and it’s not – 30 hours is usually the max per week.

Being an au pair is ok if you’re doing it through an agency. My second job wasn’t from an agency and they treated me like a slave, and had the Skull Metallica Pittsburgh Penguins Flag Shirt Besides,I will do this balls to guilt trip me too. Anything from making me work with a fever to switching my days off with no notice, and in the end they wouldn’t let me interview for other jobs or view other accommodation when I decided to leave. Don’t forget that most of the time, people will not hire any man for the role as well. So the job option is really only for women unless you get really, really lucky. (Or unlucky if there are some unsavory reasons they prefer a male au pair.) To be fair it’s about $1500/month but at least with the families I’ve interacted with that have them, it includes housing, food, and healthcare. You know the big costs of living. The housing one is a big one, as an au pair is entitled to her (causes I’m pretty sure it’s always young women) own room. So you have to be wealthy enough that you already have an extra bedroom in your house. Never known a family that wasn’t pretty well off to have an au pair.
