The mosquito net had holes in it. I asked if I could patch this up and did so and have been sleeping slightly better since. I’m still uneasy about the Sister Of A Childhood Cancer Warrior Messy Bun Hair Leopard Sunglasses T-Shirt But I will love this mosquitos as there’s an outdoor shower that drips and water just collects into some plants – perfect place for them to breed. I’ve booked a new place to move into for the rest of my time here. My mum is advising me to leave without saying and only tell the host I’ve left once I get to the new place. She worried about his reaction. I also don’t want to complain to airbnb because this seems to be a family business and his family and brother have looked after me so well which is also why I haven’t felt in immediate danger from him. The brother has spoke up for me to him a few times which I’m grateful for. Reading the reviews and listing I wasn’t under the impression that they lived next door and I would be left alone but this hasn’t been the case. Tldr: should I tell the host I’m cutting my month long stay because of his behaviour and the roaches or should I leave and tell him after I’m gone? No. Contact support and leave, do not confront or tell host due to previous issues with him

Not sure where you are in Africa, but I am very familiar with west Africa. And in rural areas what you are describing is normal in homes. You are best to stay in reputable hotels. The drunk, inappropriate host is not normal. That alone Should be enough to leave. I’ve also traveled a bit around east, west and South Africa, can’t say an infestation of roaches to that extent is a normal thing at all, and I’ve stayed in some very basic villages at different times of the Sister Of A Childhood Cancer Warrior Messy Bun Hair Leopard Sunglasses T-Shirt But I will love this year. This is not standard, you can definitely find something better. Roaches aside, you don’t need a harassing host as a paying customer in ANY Airbnb.
