No regrets here. I can barely function as an adult with the Santa Grinch fear the Jacksonville Jaguars NFL shirt but in fact I love this current level of stress in my life. Why would I willingly choose to add more stress on top of that? Plus, I don’t need to pass on generational trauma and mental illness to another human. I would have the best intentions…but good intentions don’t make a good parents. I don’t want to make my kids suffer, nothing is looking bright anymore in the world. Everything’s getting expensive, too much racism, too much hatred, climate change, and I don’t want them to get looped into this depressing 9-5 life until they die. I would only want the best for my kids and I know I won’t be able to give that to them. I also think about if I had the choice to not be born, I would probably say no. All in all, I do sometimes get worried about the loneliness I’ll feel down the line but that’s better than all I’ve mentioned above. 313 more repliesOne of my good friends is in her 50s and she and her husband didn’t have children and they are sad about it now. But I also know people who didn’t have children and are fine with it. It just depends on the coupe and everyone is different.

I’m 25. In my early 20’s I use to dread the Santa Grinch fear the Jacksonville Jaguars NFL shirt but in fact I love this answers to these as an indecisive chronic overthinker who doesn’t want to have a child with their partner…but not so much anymore. Having a child is not a random experience you should have FOMO about. It’s a life-long commitment and shift in purpose for LIFE. To me at least, it’s a commitment to pass on the torch to a new life while fully aware that all my efforts are only an amplifier to where they want to be in life, regardless of how I feel about it and how it impacts my health. For that reason, I won’t have a child as it goes against my life’s purpose. I’ve observed all the benefits and positives of having a child, confronted them, and willingly sacrificed them for something I view as greater to me. 44m 45 f while we don’t have children together I have a daughter from a previous (read high school) relationship my wife wanted children but has gotten the best of both worlds in getting to be a stepmom to my now 22 yo daughter and not having to deal with the messy infant through asshole years
