The best food I had in Jakarta was some random fried duck place that rocked. I tried a lot of Indonesian food there and found it to be average at best. It’s across the street from the metro and is one stop away from SCBD. With this proximity to the MRT, no taxis are needed. But if you do need a taxi in Jakarta it’s like 1.50 USD. If you decided to live in Jakarta you can easily afford to pay for PAs to help you with everything you may need. Jakarta has amazing food, this is subjective but I thought food wise, Jakarta and Manila were number one for me. Jakarta has amazing people, really friendly, smart and genuine with good values. Plus there are no foreigners. This is a great combination. Because it means you can walk into a bar or go to a social event or pop up and you will be a celebrity. You will make friends quickly. This is actually very rare in my opinion. It’s not what most people look for while traveling but it’s extremely rewarding and there’s no better way to know a city in my opinion.i also think it’s cool how easy it is to learn Indonesian, it’s one of the easiest languages to learn in the world and it’s fun to actually feel like you can learn a bit while you’re there. Get a language tutor or ask a friend to teach you, it’s also available on Duolingo.
