Before I got that, it was Welcome to the Jungle. I uh… I picked my ringtones out years ago and have carried them with me to every phone I have had since? Mine are all 30 second samples of songs I made myself. The only one that’s new is my husband’s. This is odd? TIL Way back when, we had to make a decision to buy one ringtone and stick with it because hell if I’m going to pay $1-$5 for a ringtone that I also had to pay data download fees for. So what do I pick? Idk, my favorite song of the day, that I’m bound to get sick of? Can’t choose anything I really like, but I can pick a song or two. But now I can go on YouTube and listen to any of those songs whenever I want. But realistically, when is it acceptable for your phone to ring? Not at work. They would prefer you not check your work email on the phone because of perceived professionalism. Not on the train because you’re a public menace for alerting everyone to your presence through whatever tacky choice they don’t like. Not walking around because that’s no better. Then what. At home alone? Then who cares. You probably won’t be waiting for a call long anyway if you have nothing better to do.

It’s not ringtones that changed. At some point, I had the first chorus from Actual Cannibal Shia Labouf as my ringtone, with “Shia Surprise!” as the notification. Currently, my ringtone is the mission complete theme from Grand Theft Auto III, paired with the Sumo Wordman pager notification.
