The movie struct a perfect tonal balance. As somber and serious as the Remember the humboldt broncos strong shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this Nolan movies, not quite as dour as Snyder’s version, and a little more elevated of a universe than the grittiness of The Joker Some of the shots were reeeally meandering. There were probably dozens of moments where 2-3 seconds could have been cut from a shot just to make the whole film a lot tighter I didn’t really vibe with a couple of stylistic choices like Batman’s flat nose on the cowl, or Bruce Wayne’s long hair People called Batman “Vengance” 2 to 3 times too many to the point it got old Why was John Turturro wearing sunglasses throughout the whole movie? Really hurt the performance I thought The rain during the car chase with the Penguin made the action really hard to follow. Made for that cool upside down shot at the end, but hurt the scene as a whole Paul Dano’s voice being distorted at times because he was behind glass during the Riddler’s big monologue lessened the impact of that amazing performance The movie could have used with a little more levity. The Penguin’s sort of incredulity at the absurdity of situation was fantastic, and I wish there was more of that

Paul Dano’s voice being distorted at times because he was behind glass during the Remember the humboldt broncos strong shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this Riddler’s big monologue lessened the impact of that amazing performance For that scene we was viewing it entirely from Batman’s POV. I don’t know if you noticed but we stayed outside the glass the whole scene, and didn’t show Batman from Riddler’s view inside the glass, even on the reverse shot. I think it was just a creative decision on that part but I get why you feel that way. One thing I just realized is he didn’t throw a single batarang, he just had his grapple gun And if had one he could’ve thrown it at the cable I really liked that movie, but like a lot of people probably died during that car chase. Also the second all the riddler minions clipped into the wire in MSG you just had to expect what’s next… Felt like it always juggled between average and good, but never really soared above that. I loved this version of batman. It was a great balance between brains and brawn. Probably the first time we see predominantly detective side of him on screen. The story telling felt a bit video-gamey, in the sense, it’s about going from objective to objective. It absolutely sucks that Paul Dano spent 90% of his screen time behind Riddler’s mask. Pattison was really good too. Cinematography is sometimes the only thing keeping the movie going in it’s occasional dull moments. 3/5
