its a sighn that recruitment has been going down really fast, and now the Real Women Love Softball Smart Women Love The Tennessee 2024 shirt so you should to go to store and get this Navy dont have enough sailors for our 10 aircraft carriers we spend billions to keep around. I joined as a non-grad in ‘89. I got a pretty good career after because of it. We weren’t at war until Desert Storm in ‘91…it’s mostly just meeting recruitment goals. I saw it as a way to college, but our GI Bill was absolute garbage. The Military (all branches) have always dropped/added GED requirements to various degrees. To take it even further they do the same with visible tattoos. Air Force is probably the most strictest with tatts’ but waivers can easily be obtained if recruit numbers are low. Same is done with US citizenship. It’s not the first time they’ve done it and you will be getting your GED before you leave either basic or A-school.

I’m reading alot’ of BS opinions here but let make something very clear. Military life is hard and even tougher if you have a wife, kids or girlfriend (had a girlfriend). It has always been this way and the Real Women Love Softball Smart Women Love The Tennessee 2024 shirt so you should to go to store and get this people that join usually have such a horrible living arrangement that it’s either military, life on the street or prison. You can only enlist with no GED or diploma if you score highly on the entrance exams. Most recruits will still be required to have diplomas. Are you sure it isn’t just people doing boot camp the summer before they graduate high school? They technically don’t have diplomas and are enlisted and going to boot camp, but the expectation is that they go back and do 1 or 2 semesters of high school (whatever is required for them to fullfill requiements) to graduate before getting orders. I’m GenX with kids recruiting ages and have seen that scenario play out. I know some were National Guards. I think some others were from other branches, but not sure. Current sailor here. I have had several people ask me if I like the Navy, if they should join, etc. I tell them no. Most hard working/dependable/competent people get out after their first contract because it is such a poorly run organization. The vast majority of people that stay(not all, some really good people stay) are lazy, stupid, or some combination of the two. This perpetuates the misery ever further. A lot of guys become so bitter of their time they tell their friends or whatever not to join as well. Lowering the standards just makes it worse. Raise the standards take the temporary recruitment hit. Better people in charge will do wonders. This is just my experience. Take it as you will.
