It usually means you’ve skipped school without a parent calling in, or you ditched a certain class. Maybe it’s not used anymore? It is still widely used, mostly in larger areas where absenteeism can affect school funding. Funding is distributed based on attendance numbers and rates, number of days, etc. This basis has to do with the number of school days, snow days, make-up days for bad weather, even the number of hours per school day and why schools let out early on certain days rather than have the entire day scheduled off – after so many hours it counts as a full day even with early dismissal. I’m in the minority cause I just thought it was funny then got to the comments and everyone is losing their shit
