We paid for a couple of hours of AC, and that’s what we got. Movie theaters popularized air conditioning to begin with, so there’s lots of precedent for doing exactly what you did. The last time I saw a movie at an AMC theater, my popcorn had hair in it. I don’t mean a hair or a couple of hairs, it had “been swept off the floor and put back in the popcorn machine” amounts of hair. Regardless I think it’s shitty to raise the price on popular films. It doesn’t cost them anymore to run them than any others. Why not just raise the popcorn again? I pay for pop and popcorn to help the theaters accept the fact that I’m bring in a fifth of booze. I’m not being messy or obnoxious, I’m just gonna get drunk. I paid $18 for stuff that costs $2, material included. Leave me alone. Depending on the movie, it does cost more to run them, unless something is radically different than 6 years ago when I consulted for AMC. Most theatres ran Age of Ultron at a -.05 to -.20 profit on ticket sales due to contractual obligations with Disney. Obviously, they make it up via concessions and the like, but plenty of movies cost different amounts to run. Spider-Man just became one of the highest grossing movies of all time. The demand is there for big superhero movies I think it’s because young people are seeing movies, but old people aren’t. Dune also saw pretty good returns, so it’s not just superhero movies.

Yeah charge more for movies. Brilliant way for a struggling company to bring back customers after a 2 year long pandemic and inflation in the headlines. I see no way this won’t be a huge success. Did you know studios take the lion’s share of profits for the first two weeks a movie is out? This is why popcorn and soda are so expensive. Then this idiot comes out and tells everyone, who are seeing higher prices everywhere, people now have to pay more to see it. Sadly, some of you have no self control, which means once you buy these tickets at outrageous prices, they’ll never stop doing it. “I dunno, we’ve gone to the movies in the past couple of years literally 1 time, and it wasn’t even a good experience, I’m not sure if we’re really going back….” The pandemic hit, and I haven’t been since. COVID is just now slowing down in my area. The theaters had shit for precautions, and too many people just didn’t care. Wasn’t worth to get sick, get my vulnerable friends sick, and miss work, too. That’s fine. After taking a break from the movie theater….I don’t think I care to pay these greedy fuckers for overpriced tickets, and snacks. I don’t care to sit in a crowded theater, with assigned seats, while someone runs their mouth, a kid is screaming, or someone keeps kicking my chair.
