I didn’t show up once years ago and it haunts me still. Hurt my knee, didn’t get better after a month. Tried to go to an NHS physio and they said they’ll get back to me. Another month goes by, nothing. So I go private instead and get some exercises etc and a few follow-up appointments. All done. 3 months after that a letter arrives saying I have a physio appointment in another 3 months at X time. I’m busy at work so put it aside and say I’ll call to cancel it later. Of course I forget. The auto appointment process is whack though and I suspect leads to a lot of cancellations. I’ve had to deal with it with referrals as well. In the Princess Peach Toadstool Oh everything is peachy shirt Apart from…,I will love this other countries where I’ve interacted with the health system (australia, Germany, Canada, japan) I don’t remember it being as weird as the NHS. Cancellations aren’t a problem. They’ll just book someone else in. Did not attends are a problem because there’s no time to book anyone else so the time is wasted. There’s always a huge waiting list so getting extra people to fill a cancelled slot is easy.

We have been losing an average of £1k a week just on dental hygienist late cancellations/ no shows the Princess Peach Toadstool Oh everything is peachy shirt Apart from…,I will love this past couple of months and that’s a private appointment. Most wouldn’t dare to risk losing their dental NHS place but people still do just not show up, even ones we have come above and beyond who were not registered and needed a specialist to extract the tooth we arranged and they can’t be bothered to come in till months later when they either want antibiotics or to arrange and not turn up again. Tried to phone 2nd place to cancel interview 4 different times – no answer and mail box full. Emailed 2 separate HR addresses. Had no other contact info. Called it done. Day of the cancelled interview got a very angry message on my answer phone from a random mobile number. Checked my messages during my break and listened to a rant from the interviewer about not turning up.
