I can’t remember what it is for NHS dental appointments but I’ve had days where we’ve had 30 patients booked in and only 18 turned up. It’s so shit because we know there are people desperate to come in but because they’re not on our NHS register they can’t get an appointment, and then there are people that are on the Pride Timber Rattlers Shirt In addition,I will do this register that fuck about all the time. My grandad lost his NHS dental place because the dentists cancelled his appointment during Covid and wouldn’t see him. Then said sorry it’s been too long you’re off the register. Luckily they found another dentist closer to home but I was fully prepared to argue with them over it. I understand if the patient doesn’t show up or cancels but if cancellations are down to the practice then the patient shouldn’t suffer. I almost lost mine recently, my fault as I forgot about the appointment, but they’re supposed to send out reminder texts, and I never received it, I’m one of those people where if it isn’t infront of me I easily forget it exist so by the time I remembered it was over a year and half later.

Source What’s the breakdown of that for routine Vs “specialist” care I wonder? That’s shockingly lower than I thought it would be It varies by specialty. Paediatrics is usually the highest because of forgetful parents (or neglectful parents). Follow-ups, particularly when people have recovered well are less well attended than first appointments as well.
