With that being said, the Premium the Charlatans A Head Full Of Ideas LP Fan Art T-Shirt besides I will buy this technology is definitely not ready yet and whatever executive made this move is an idiot. Classic case of belief in Hollywoodisms.Everyone sees AI and thinks sentient spaceships but the current state of pseudo AI is almost competent enough to direct people to the correct person and answer simple questions like “what is your email address?”. Anything involving machine learning today misses out on a person’s ability to know right from wrong, it’s all just data to current AI which is how we end up with stories like this. The “AI” is just a really complicated calculator that spits out bot harvested statements related to the subject and given the general level of discourse on social media is almost certainly harmful rather than helpful. But understanding the processes you’re implementing isn’t a required job skill for management in most organizations.

Lolol!! I just listened to them talking about switching on NPR last week and just knew this shit was a bad idea! Awesome. What a fail! These hotlines are so hard to maintain. They run primarily on volunteers, but require a huge amount of skill from those people, and training them is time consuming and expensive. Consider also that the Premium the Charlatans A Head Full Of Ideas LP Fan Art T-Shirt besides I will buy this emotional load on those volunteers is significant, and that they burn out quickly, and you can understand why keeping a hotline like this operational is harder than it seems. Add to all that, that this is one of the most accessible supports available for people with eating disorders (or depressive disorders, or personality disorders) and we can see that these programs are both very important and require community financial investment. I see a lot of people in this thread bashing the decision to use chatbot operators, and yeah, it’s obviously a disaster, but it’s likely that the alternative was to shut down this vital community resource. These programs need community investment, especially if we expect them to be able to provide a useful service. Even a shoestring budget is a budget.
