Go and knock on their door. Say “Hey I know you were talking about sorting out the Premium original Luca Guadagnino wearing Carrie shirt and by the same token and fence. Have you got a quote yet? Do you want any help towards it, as it looks like this is now more urgent following the storm?” It does depend on the fence I will admit. But ours is just 5’ lap panels £31 each from B&Q. They just slide into the grooves in the concrete posts. The main difficulty is lifting them high enough to get into the groove. When ours went similar scenario I didn’t even bother to check. My logic being if I go 50/50 with the neighbour I get an input with what goes up. If you start demanding someone else pays malicious compliance could ensue. Normally you can tell who the panels belong to by which side the posts/supports etc are on (so this would be the side the fence belongs to) and that side is responsible for replacing

Nah, our neighbours put up a fence where they had “the Premium original Luca Guadagnino wearing Carrie shirt and by the same token and nice side” and had to come round to our garden to fix it when the posts sagged, didn’t think that through I don’t think you f’d up. I would just ask if she decided what type of fence she wanted and how much your half is, then offer to help put it up. Yep, I’m afraid there is no alternative but to move house. Either a flat somewhere or an acreage. No in-between options – you blew your chance at suburbia. Doesn’t one side technically fall under one home’s ownership and the other the next? Only house I ever lived in left side was ours to sort out and the right was next door’s? I would give it a week and just keep an eye out for them in the garden and ask how they are going with getting the fence panels sorted. I see no problem here. If you are considered about the fence, just talk to your neighbour. No harm or foul has been made. How many days since the panels collapsed? You could give them a bit of a grace period to get this done, I rarely get all my yard stuff done the very same day something happens. Sometimes you’re at work all week and don’t have a chance. Seems like you handled the initial meeting with them perfectly, and the input your wife has given seems extremely impatient and presumptive. Almost aggressive lol why would you even consider moving house over this I swear to god, the more I read Reddit the more often I keep telling myself that half the worries I see posted on this site can simply be sorted out by just talking. Come on man, we’ve been doing this our whole lives apart from the first year or so. Just go and talk to people and be straight with them. Complete non issue.
