For us it was absolutely the right choice and our lives are very peaceful, fulfilling, fun and not nearly as stressful. Never mind the financial strain of having children… No regrets. Mid-forties. Kept waiting to get baby fever, or even just to be sure I was ready. That feeling never came. So it wasn’t a decision, really. I know I have that instinct in me, because I love the children in my family so much and I’m crazy about my dogs. But I genuinely don’t feel like anything is missing. I have a partner and we have so many adventures. And I’ve been able to build a career I love. It’s a creative job, and I don’t know if I’d be doing it if I had to support a family. Sometimes I wonder if I’ll regret it if/when I need care when I’m old, but that doesn’t seem like a good enough reason to radically alter this part of my life. And it’s also kind of selfish and weird as a reason.

Nope, I get to have my sleep and we can do whatever we want when we want. My friends have kids, and their lives and identity revolves around them.
