Do you really respect your boss? If so, you could flatter them and ask for the Poirier Vs Gaethje July 29 Sat Lightweight Bout shirt But I will love this lunch to be a 1:1 to really pick their brain rather than a group lunch with the unsavory person(s) giving you problems. The boss will probably find this flattering and it’s a free lunch for you. If not, you can say you’ve got so much to wrap up, you’d just prefer some self serve pizza in the break room and take the pizza back to your desk to avoid them all. This. I had a coworker leave recently and did not want a party. OP do what makes you feel comfortable. These people are only coworkers, nothing else. Accept the offer. It is a kind gesture for your tenure there. That says a lot from your boss. Your co-workers? Screw em who cares? You won’t remember their names in a couple years. If any of the mean ones show up, be extra kind. Smiles, winks, and blow em a kiss on the way out. Just to make the haters mad lol. Does seem kinda rude to your boss to decline. Can’t say I’ve been offered that before lol.

You don’t owe them anything and you’re leaving anyway. Goodbye parties/lunches are awkward as hell I wouldn’t go either Yeah, I can understand a welcome party, but usually if you’re leaving there’s a good reason, and either many people are upset about it, or they despise you and are glad your leaving, which would make celebrating it with them the Poirier Vs Gaethje July 29 Sat Lightweight Bout shirt But I will love this same as someone laughing at you instead of with you. This is great advice. These commenters don’t realize that for OP to be pushed as far as resigning, not wanting a party is completely reasonable. I don’t give a shit about a “free meal” and OP should do what they are comfortable with. Declining a party is fine, but do it right away. Don’t prolong the uncertainty. Don’t expect to climb any ranks with that mentality. If you’re not an ambitious person, then go for it, burn those bridges. But if you have any part of you that wants to eventually climb ranks and be connected, then I’d suggest going.
