I worked for Lowe’s and they paid us for an extra hour on those days! At my job, when the clocks go back, you work 9 hours and get paid for 9 hours. When the clocks go forward, you work 7 hours and get paid for 8. Hide behind the couch in the breakroom under construction that no one uses because they are idiots and I’m the only one clever enough to think of it. When I was an assistant manager at a restaurant, the managers/assistant managers hardly ever had to work the overnight shift (11p-7a). There was a cover manager for that. Of course I was SO lucky that I got to work the overnight shift when the clocks went back an hour. I was salary so I didn’t get paid for an extra hour and had to stay up for a longer amount of time than normal, so the drive home (35 minutes) was extra rough. I was so mad when I found out I was working that overnight shift. I’m pretty sure I ended up crying at some point that night because I was so pissed off about it lmao

So everyone’s talking about how they got an extra hour of sleep, I just got an extra hour of work. When I worked overnight, my out-time got adjusted based on whether the clock went forward or back to give us the number of hours we’d get normally. Ie. Fall back – in at the normal time, out an hour early. Spring forward – in at normal time, out an hour later You get paid an extra hour on the “fall back” nights and you get paid an hour less on the “spring forward” nights. Obviously you can’t go home….the time change happens at 2am. Your coworkers are coming in at their scheduled time so you have to be there until they get there.
