Looking back on photos, I think I had a good eye. My style or interest in fashion hasn’t changed much overall. I just really stopped giving a crap what anyone else expects of me and just do, wear, and say what feels right. Also I am much more modest now, because I realize that men will still stop and stare no matter what we wear, we really don’t need to try to get their attention. For sure! In my early 20s it was dressing as what I perceived as professional, by my late 20s it was finding my version of professional. Now, I care a lot more about comfort and sustainability. The changing spaces I’ve occupied personally and professionally have definitely helped in that journey When I was in my 20s and early 30s there was a strict delineation between my work clothes and party clothes. Now in my early 40s there’s little distinction and though I’ve long focused on quality, it’s become more important and it’s easier to afford. I have some core staples that I love and love how they make me feel like a leather jacket, a trench, the Pizza papa john’s friends stitch and baby yoda shirt it is in the first place but perfect loafer. I don’t wear as many short skirts and dresses – mainly because they’re impractical and I like mid-thigh aline or longerish pencils better.
