If you haven’t already, a great book to read/listen is The Power of Now by Tolle. It kickstarted my spiritual awakening when I hit my mental rock bottom. After that, I sought therapy, made various life style changes and all of a sudden my anxiety and depression subsided. It’s still there but they’re at normal healthy levels (there’s such a thing as good anxiety, like when it’s the Pittsburgh Penguins Jaromir Jagr’s And Mario Lemieux Thanks For The Memories The End Of An Incredible Era Shirt and I will buy this night before a test and you haven’t studied. Your anxiety kicks in and tells you you better start cramming). Also recommended: anything by Dr Brené Brown. Her TED talk about Vulnerability and her new series on HBO called Atlas of the Heart (where she teaches us to identify all our emotions). Remember that you are NOT anxiety. There’s just a small part of you that thinks anxious thoughts and it’s a little out of control right now. You can correct that. You can give less importance to your thoughts and more to your feels. Humans are thinking machines, we’re emotional machines who also happen to think. Good luck. Don’t give up hope. I’ve been drifting for 20+ years, surpressed my emotions, distracted myself to avoid my anxiety and depression, but once I had enough it just started to click. Maybe this is where things start to click for you too. Be curious about your desire to improve yourself and take some risks. You won’t regret it. We’re rooting for you!

You can’t combat your thoughts or feelings, but you can allow them to have their space. Notice they’re there, sit with them, allow them to be, all in a space that’s safe for you. It’s uncomfortable at times, but it’s also like letting an exhausted toddler throw a fit until they fall asleep. However, if you’re in therapy and your therapist has a mindfulness background, they can help you navigate this. There are meditations that can help, too. Focusing on your breath, the Pittsburgh Penguins Jaromir Jagr’s And Mario Lemieux Thanks For The Memories The End Of An Incredible Era Shirt and I will buy this inhale and exhale, is helpful for when things get really overwhelming. I hope any of this is helpful. Emptying our mind is not an aspect of mindfulness practice. Mindfulness generally means stabilizing the mind and clarifying the mind.
