Had a therapist who suggested my wife and I divorce after one meeting. That was 3 years ago. We are still working at it, but things are better. Fuck that guy Mine did. My therapist said “your partner has showed you who they are. You can either accept they are a narcissist, who is gaslighting, lying and manipulating you. I went through marital counseling & the therapist was clear that it was not his role to “save the marriage”. We did get divorced & the process helped me. Yes, my parents were actually told that therapy would no longer help them and they should do personal work separately or just break tf up

This is exactly what happened to us. We had been to one or two other therapists. We met with this lady and she had us stop the Pickle stix surfboards spaceman shirt and I will buy this therapy session after 30 minutes. She told us ‘your marriage is over’. The counselor, at the end of the first/only visit after having spoken to us individually and together, leaned in and told me with a calm, clear and firm voice “you need to break up with him and STAY broken up with him.” I was not in a good place mentally or emotionally with the shock of it all and knee-jerk reaction I stupidly began halfway defending him- she cut me off and said essentially- you’re not ready, I’ve told you what you need to do, he is NOT a good boyfriend but if you are choosing to defend him and stay with him then I cannot help you.
