Sometimes, but only if breaking up would stand to serve both of the Philly City Mascots Philly It’s A Philly Thing 4 Team Sports Logo shirt in addition I really love this couple individually and collectively in their aims. Therapists will usually try their hardest to facilitate and advocate couples working through their issues except in a case of abuse, and a break up process is handled as it’s own treatment aim as well (what does independence mean to both parties? Are there kids involved, does a coparenting strategy need to be made?) Yes. Sometimes couples therapy can be more of a gradual, guided break up. Can help with resentment and ensuring listening and fairness. Generally (in my experience) when you get started in couples therapy the ask if you BOTH want to stay together and build, or start moving apart and get help with that. Yes. After speaking to us individually, the therapist told me I shouldn’t be in a relationship with her, and that she likely had some things to work out before she could be in a healthy relationship. I didn’t listen. Roughly five years later, a different therapist said the same thing. I probably still wouldn’t have listened, but she left. And it turns out, I’m happier. Guess they know what they’re talking about.

Yeah therapists aren’t supposed to tell you what choices to make just help you understand your choices more. They’re just people with opinions like everybody else frankly. They give you tools and it’s on you to make something of it. They can’t fix anybody Yes. Years ago my ex and I went to therapy. Therapist told me to go ahead and move on it didn’t look like there was anything to save. Gave me peace of mind since I was getting grief from family members that we were being too hasty. Yes, the one my parents went to did and the one a friend of mine went to with her husband did. Sometimes there’s just no fixing a relationship and therapists can see that. They’re always going to be in demand as long as humans are humans so they don’t need to worry about losing clients.
