“Just let kids be kids” is a bullshit meaningless argument though. Let kids be kids? Okay. Then stop fucking legislating what they can and can’t do when exploring their own identity and growing as people. If it is a phase then let them work through it. It’s “let kids be kids” until they want to wear a skirt instead of pants, or be called Samantha instead of Samual, or start an LGBTQ club in their middle school, or take another boy to prom. Then it’s ban this, sue that doctor, take the Phantom Ranch The Journey Is The Reward House Grand Canyon T-Shirt but in fact I love this kid from those parents, gag order the whole school from saying LGBTQ people exist, ban any book that has a character resembling that child’s identity from being in their local library. Also we know by now that you can’t logic bigots out of positions they didn’t logic themselves into. When I debate a transphobe it’s not to change their mind. It’s to ensure the audience doesn’t see their bullshit go unopposed. Most of the time they argue in bad faith from a position that’s little better than someone just screaming “I hate them I hate them I hate them!” While slamming their fists on the table if you push through the bullshit. Why do you think it’s ok to force trans youth to go through unwanted irreversible changes that damage their health?

I have no problem with trans people. That being said, isn’t it just common sense to not allow people under the Phantom Ranch The Journey Is The Reward House Grand Canyon T-Shirt but in fact I love this age of 18 to do anything too drastic? I was a totally different person as a teenager then I am now like hell I’d even say have them wait until they’re in their 20s but at 18 you’re a legal adult so yeah. Once again I feel it needs to be said I’m not trying to be a dick this is just a genuine question/comment. I honestly find the whole thing more than a bit odd and don’t really understand it but at the same md of the day I don’t really care what people do that only really effects themselves. The problem is that if a kid is trans (let’s say a trans girl, who was born a boy), then going through puberty turns her into a man, when she’s trying to be a woman.
