I, as a dumb curious kid, called her to inform her of the plot hole. She was so humble and delighted, she said she noticed it when it was done but by then it was done and I was one of two people to notice it, but again super nice. My teacher found out I had called her, via classmates bringing it up, and was furious. I think most people in creative fields appreciate feedback and interaction.

He wrote a paragraph saying he didn’t have time to answer this foolish question, and then the last line said that the best symbolism was realized only after you finish reading. Was he just screwing with the kid hoping he would make him read the reply over and over looking for some hidden symbolism? (Like I did?) or was the symbolism having to do with wasting someone’s time??? I both admire and hate Normal Mailer for that. I had a prof who secretly had email correspondence with a certain author. One day in-class she gave us one of their poems, and then we had to comment on what we thought it meant. Symbolism, obvious or otherwise.
