I’ve had relationships, been engaged although that relationship did more damage than anything and I’ve found myself cynical with little confidence which isn’t a great combination. Rather great actually, happier then I’ve ever been. Nobody to nag me when I want to drop £1000+ on a new TV and Ps5, nobody to tell me I can’t go out with friends because we made plans, it’s great. I like peace and quiet so mostly okay. I wish I had more close friends though. Some influences when I was younger put me off interpersonal relationships entirely, but to be honest I’ve enjoyed my independence and I’ve only ever met two people I wanted to get to know on that level but I fucked up any chance I may have had, and probably had none anyway. Which is difficult as I don’t have a social life and have quit drinking. Does it eat at me? Yes, of course. Sometimes the feeling of loneliness and missing out seems to dominate how I feel. But I think of the positives. I work hard. I think I’m a genuinely nice person. I take care of myself. I have my hobbies and my beliefs and values and I am generally happy for being me and for my life. I just wish there was someone there. Someone to get to know, to do things with, to share things with, to listen to and support and enjoy life with.
