Money requires effort to get, but in some cases you can substitute your own effort for money. At the One Piece Buggy Pirates shirt and I will buy this end of the day though, since we are not in post-scarcity yet, everything you may need requires someone’s effort to get, directly (by doing it yourself), or indirectly (by doing something else and exchanging). Money at its core is just a convenient tool for exchanging your effort for someone else’s and/or saving it for later; banning money wouldn’t suddenly make us get enough of everything for everyone. You would still have problems getting things you need, whether they can be exchanged for money or not. Oh, in some cases I’m allowed to substitute my effort for money? Why not in all cases? Why should I be forced to commodify and sell my effort?

If you are good with construction you can build a house yourself. If you are not, you can’t, or at least the One Piece Buggy Pirates shirt and I will buy this not a kind of house you’d want to live in. You can assemble a PC yourself, but not build its CPU or memory. There’s simply too many jobs in the world and too much required knowledge for a person to be able to get everything yourself, and we have too many humans for everyone to be able to return to a “farm your own plot of land” lifestyle (and even if we could, you actually would need far more hours of labor to grow food for yourself than the hours at an entry-level job that would provide money you need to buy food for yourself.) I understand the reaction. But is it a mindful one? (Since when has mindfulness been about changing other people’s opinions?)
