That’s at least how it is if you work for the city… As a nurse, we get paid the extra hour but it’s not considered overtime. My partner works in a factory, he got to leave an hour early so he still only worked 12 hours. As a police officer you get fucked for the hour as well & hope that you’re working spring ahead to make up for it. Bonus points to any coppers who have had to explain in court why you pulled over the car at 0230 and locked up the drunk driver at 0229. 😀 Depends on the contract. If your contract specified you’re paid an hourly rate, or number of hours in a shift, you get paid the extra hour. If it specifies times (between 9pm-4am eg), you work the extra hour and hopefully it evens out when the clocks go forward. In the UK at least, when I looked into it a few years ago. Working the hotel reception night shift, I recently did get paid the extra hour (with the nightly bonus applied) here in Germany. I worked my regular 12 hours then went home. So technically went home an hour early but still worked my full shift. Having worked (and managed) in gas stations and fast food restaurants, the approach varied. But my general rule of thumb was “don’t screw over your full timers, especially the ones who do nights”
