NONE of that is in curricula these days. “ThEy’Ll Be AbLe To HeAr CoRrEcT eNgLiSh AnD HaVe GoOd GrAmMeR nAtUrAlLy” headasses. I’m telling you, so many things that seemed unnecessary while we were growing up, actually laid strong foundations for accessing more information (computer classes, sentence formation, times tables, fucking handwriting lessons). Kids don’t have that these days and are just pushed thru and end up in high school not being able to write a legible, logical paragraph using original analysis. It just…ugh I could go on and on. It’s rough out here. Yeah, it’s changed a lot. I teach at the Nice cleveland Monsters Total Solar Eclipse 2024 shirt Also,I will get this same school I graduated from. I remember having about 2-3 grammar lessons a week mixed in with novel activities. Mostly worksheets and diagramming sentences. I talked with my department head about it (who was also my senior English teacher) and she said that my class of students were one of the last few that had grammar as a priority standard. It’s so awesome you’re exposing your son to so much stimulation before and outside of school. I agree w someone else that the Nice cleveland Monsters Total Solar Eclipse 2024 shirt Also,I will get this problem is when kids learn basic fundamentals for all subjects at that younger age, if it’s not continues and reinforced thru upper elementary and middle school, it’s not going to stick for them in a meaningful way when they get to high school, which demands a lot more accountability and discipline. My 9th graders were online for most of 5th grade and all of 6th grade. Not only is this such a critical socialization age w peers, it’s also the prime time to help kids be actual learners and not passive students. But they didn’t do S H I T online during that time so they just lost sooo much straight up information to actually access these more complex subjects. Pair all that w the below ground level expectations in middle school after we came back on campus, atp these kids are just – I’m sorry – dumb. And it’s really not their fault! But the ability to learn and retain information is severely stunted by the lack of foundational knowledge and skills.
