Trades around here pay shit, working conditions and work life balance awful. I’m in the UK. The best option here is to get into healthcare to take care of the aging population who threw their health away working said trades. Yes, now you get it, they want you poor, powerless, and ready to comply. You being in a state of constant crushing debt is preferred but not required Hey! I went to college and dropped out due to a mental health crisis now I have the debt of a college grad and the wage of a high school grad! Makes me despair. my friends working blue collar jobs (millwright, operators, boilermakers, etc) are making way more than my white collar job. Let’s be fair, blue collar jobs make bank now compared to most jobs college educated kids make, it’s just much harder on your job. The reason the book of Job was about a guy getting tortured and his family killed for giggles still loving Hod with all his heart resonates so hard for the American people is because the people (Job) await the reward God gave Job. But our bosses aren’t God, and we aren’t Job, our employers want us to act like it saying it’s our job (fitting to be spelled the same) to toil and suffer. I went to college and got a blue collar job, because I didn’t have enough experience to work a white collar job directly out of college

Blue collar workers shouldn’t struggle, at least in Canada. Everyone I work with when licensed is generally making 100k at least. What really blows people’s minds right now is finding out that computer science majors are having problems finding work. A more polite way of saying “you’re wrong no matter what you do. Shut up and suffer quietly because we don’t care.” this myth that blue collar jobs are low wage jobs need to die. most of them make way more than your typical college degree job. you get a college degree job for the comfort not for the money. They want you to be poor. They’ve set a price in their mind they’re willing to pay for certain jobs and won’t change that so the people working those jobs will always be poor and the only way for someone to accept such a low paying job is by already being poor. Which is shitty anyway. My dad did Blue collar work for like 25 years, made really good money. Then he got in an accident and permanently damaged his back. He can’t do that type of work anymore so he’s stuck working at an auto parts store for min wage.
