you know what’s funny? Lied on resume and LinkedIn as much as I could get away with. 6 months exp in one stack == 3-4 years according to my LI. Passed one coding test okay but for second job I had NFI (new stack) so I paid a dude from Upwork to do it.

First job hired me based 1) on ability to do coding test competently but not excellently and I reckon 2) personality including willingness to learn. I politely pointed out room for improvement on current sites, coded a custom section for them etc. Boss told me she said she wanted to hire me even if I couldn’t code. I can’t, honestly. Second job (freelance) hired me based on 1) coding test (Upwork dude lol) and 2) my cover letter. It was a sustainability based ecommerce site and I had experience in sustainability in communications roles so I talked about that. First job was through a recruiter. I had REALLY pimped out my LI profile, so that helped it. Second job I applied for. I don’t know shit about fuck but I’m resourceful and jokey and casual I suppose.
