They’d been searching for someone since last June when I had started applying. Hey look guys, the market is absolutely crashing, 2000 cvs for 1 job in 2 hours but let’s all talk about these few guys who got lucky the worst advise to give somebody in life is to never give up, sometimes you have to be realistic if there’s no jobs there are no jobs, do something else and enjoy life, plenty of other jobs that will give you a nice life, be happy, and achieve your dreams, please Yes there’s a sunk cost fallacy at play, but the response to that isn’t give up – it can be lots of things. For starters, our hypothetical CV is clearly no good if there’s no response after 2000 applications. That can be tweaked. Maybe write a tool that keeps stats on responses to different tweaks? Maybe if our sample size is in the thousands then we can do meaningful A/B testing with our CV as the subject. It wouldn’t take long to figure out what works. Build a webapp and charge a small amount for it… Sunk cost fallacy is real, I’ve put time and money into my degree I can’t quit before I even found my first job. Though if I could go back 4 years though and choose my other choice which was healthcare related knowing what the market would look like for new grads now Id of course take it.
