I paid off the National junk food day 2022 hamberger T-Shirt and I love this last of my education loans with the COVID relief funds last year. Sure that money could have gone to something else but it was important to me and my family to erase as much debt as we could. If Congress passes student loan relief, excellent!! It helped my family tremendously to be without that burden the past few months. I can only imagine the relief for others. This is bull shit. I just paid cash for my kid’s college tuition. 30k a year and they won’t even let me deduct it from my income taxes. AOC can go to hell. I think where I take exception, is her assertion that I was “blessed” to payoff my student loans. I worked a lot of overtime I didn’t want to to pay of those loans, I lived in a shitty apartment and drove a shitty car for longer than I had to to pay off those loans. And it was worth it. All of that effort translated into a higher paying job than I otherwise would have had.

I see a lot of my former classmates in favor of this. These are classmates that went on spring break while I worked, bought nice cars when they got their first job, had nice apartments and fancy vacations. Now they are complaining about how they deserve debt forgiveness. I have similar experiences… The newhires in my job all show up with brand new cars and complaints about student loans… I drive an 18 year old car that I bought used and prioritized paying for college Seriously.. seeing some of my peers go on annual trips to Disney World or Europe and buying brand new cars while bitching about MASSIVE amounts of student loan debt—while I spent the National junk food day 2022 hamberger T-Shirt and I love this ten years post-graduation working my ass off and vacationing in the next state over to pay off my debt—is dizzying. Surely there’s some middle ground there, but yeah, I’d be bitter. No. AOC is really not intelligent. Fold the loans into bankruptcy allowances if you like, but this blanket forgiveness is idiotic and will greatly harm the economic health of the country.
