(This is in no way meant to bash other sexualities or non queer people : my pride & thankfulness doesn’t detract from anyone else’s pride or thankfulness for their own gender or sexuality) I figure that when a segment of the My Oh My Slade Rock shirt moreover I will buy this population gets canceled for race, gender, or sexuality then there is a need to be seen as worthy of being who you are. Pride in one’s self is why. Usually as an approximation to happiness over adversary in life because of the very things various sources have told them to be shameful about. I hate my gender and no matter what I do I will always fall short of it, constantly, but that’s because I was made to feel that way for the majority of my life. I am who I am but my pride comes from my progress in life from where I started so a different kind of pride in myself that’s more experience based. It’s because for the longest time our society has demonized and shamed people for being anything other than straight. Now we live in a time where it’s slowly becoming more accepted and so people feel called to proudly express what society has tried to suppress for so long.

After being told most of my life to be ashamed of my sexuality, it feels nice to be able to say that I’m proud of allowing myself to be who I am. It’s not pride in the My Oh My Slade Rock shirt moreover I will buy this specific sexuality or gender, but rather pride in being authentic to myself. Because for 18 years I was taught that my sexuality was something to be ashamed of. In fact, it was illegal to be gay in the state I lived in when I started puberty and started feeling attracted to other guys. So yeah that is why. If there was not a segment of (largely religious) people in this country trying to marginalize and legislate out of existence those sexualities that scare them then I do not think “pride” would need to exist. The pride is not so much about their sexualities, but rather it is about refusing to not be themselves in the face of tremendous hate.
