Which, to be fair, downhill mountain bikes are made with particularly expensive parts and are the More people believe in UFOs than in the government shirt but in fact I love this tanks of the bike world. They are made for speed (obviously not this speed) and to handle a lot of abuse. Calling it a “regular bike” implies it’s some $300 Walmart bike. These are bikes specifically made for speed. It’s a retail bike that can be bought from a store and wasn’t designed or built for this particular attempt. Ok now? It’s a $10,000 downhill bike that was tuned (in terms of air pressure, tubes, shock pressure) for the expectations of this task. They even mention the tires pumped to 60psi, which is waaaaay above what you would run a mtb tire at. This is a professional bike ridden by a professional rider tuned by people who know and understand the capabilities of the components.

You cannot go to any store to get this bike already tuned up and designed for this attempt, it was clearly custom. the More people believe in UFOs than in the government shirt but in fact I love this parts are all standard stuff you can buy, anyone could build this bike. The only thing not totally clear is the wheelset, it says custom but not sure how since LG1R/SL are stock E13 models. Wonder if they glued the tire bead on or not. I’m guessing they did something to make it easier to keep it going straight in that case. The speed wobble would be beyond human abilities at that speed I’d imagine. I had a friend who converted their grandma bike into an ebike that could push 90. It did, once. The tires blew off and whipped him in the ass pretty hard. Does that bike have extra caster angle or is it just the camera playing trick? Makes sense if they did modify the bike to make it more stable at that speed. Done 90kmh on a road bike descending before, but this is a whole other level. One strong cross wind / gust and it’s game over It’s now a little more rusty than I remember but that’s ok. The rust flakes will no doubt peel off with ease once I hit 200 km/h. There’s a guy down the street with cool looking bike. It’s not red so I’m not sure if it’ll be fast but the guy’s always raving about it and he’s put personal plates on it: Gixxer69 or something like that. Anyway, I’ll ask him for a tow. As soon as I find my helmet and my son’s skateboard knee-pads. Don’t want to risk scraping my knees if I come off at 300 km/h!
