Love your future self (and current self) by guiding them to things that add to your quality of life. I’ll start by saying I just started and am in week 4.. but I actually get excited to workout. In the after noon I’ve been lifting weights and doing a Peloton to finish out the day. I’ve also started tracking everything in My Fitness Pal and its kind of like a game I just find it fun to do these things now. Also seeing my weight drop and my strength / conditioning go up is so cool.

I think people who are like this are just driven and to them, NOT doing these things would be unpleasant and boring. Use it or lose it. A lot of truth in this saying. I want to be able to move freely when I’m older with minimal pain. I’m within 10 lbs of what i weighed in high school and I’m 44. It takes a lot of work but it’s worth it. It sucks ass when you start out both in general and the Michael Rasmussen Canadian professional ice hockey centre for the Detroit Red Wings T-Shirt it is in the first place but first 10 min or so. Once you get past that, you generally feel much better afterwards which keeps you going on the regular. Also you are going to pay and have pain either way. One is in health one is not. Life is tough. Choose the better pain. See it as essential to living, which it is. It’s not some “extra” thing to find time to do and force yourself to do it. It’s as essential to living as breathing, taking a shower, and eating. Honestly, I think it’s a mindset. I started seriously working out last year and since then I have had to mentally contort life situations in order to channel it into the gym and into my workouts. After about the first 3 months I started to see results and that gave me the drive to keep going. Then I got my nutrition in check and I was kind of excited about that and that gave me the drive again. Then I changed my entire wardrobe and got gym clothes and surprisingly enough that gave me the drive again. Then I had relationship issues and I channeled all the frustration from that into the gym. The relationship issues cleared up, we’re fine now …so I needed something to get me going again. I switched gyms and the new gym had a great gym culture and that gave me the drive to keep going because there was a community there. Then I bought some gym gear, lifting belts, knee wraps, gloves, shoes and believe it or not that gave me the drive to go again. Girlfriend bought me lifting straps that gave me the drive to go again
