I think the Metallicat Funny Cat Rock 90s Meow For Music Band Of Friends T-Shirt and I love this Russian propaganda machine has kicked things up in the last week. The amount of Russian propaganda on the internet at the moment is just insane. I’ve never seen anything like it. Reddit seems somewhat alright still, but YouTube has gone to shit on videos related to Ukraine and Twitter is completely fucked. The sheer volume of misinformation and whataboutisms is intense. The bots and troll farms are unrelenting. Can’t tell who’s a bot and who’s just some poor fuck that bought the bullshit. r/conspiracy_commons is absolutely getting flooded with Russian propagandists proclaiming that Putin is fighting against the NWO. There is a shit to of propaganda on both sides. Fuck Russia, but Redditors immediately bought into the Ghost of Kyiv story and the “Russian warship, go fuck yourself” story without verifying anything. Seems they went around and preemptively banned a number of individuals who have been vocal about their anti-Russian sentiment, even if it was not on their sub. Their goal was not to curate content, it was to spread a specific message and prevent anyone from being able to speak against it

Something that made me laugh is one of their pinned posts talking about misinformation on the Metallicat Funny Cat Rock 90s Meow For Music Band Of Friends T-Shirt and I love this sub, they used an article for The Sun, a new paper notorious for their biased takes, misinformation & clickbait. It’s scary how easy it is for media sources backed by the government can fool people. Even in America with so many different ways to get the news just think of how many were/are totally brainwashed by Fox News and Trump. There’s still tons of misinformation all over r/all from multiple huge subs and even the Ukraine sub. If Reddit doesn’t do something about that then this isn’t really about combating misinformation. I agree. They need to do much much more. Reddit has always been susceptible to bots, trolls, and clickfarms because it’s anonymous (or pseudonymous whatever). Russian misinfo has been known to be a problem since 2016… 6 years ago.
