Ehhhh, “if you don’t know what you’re getting yourself into”…you could get fucked whether you’re a man or woman. There are some very fucked up and crazy women and men that will make your life worse than hell…if we’re really talking about the “if you don’t know what you’re getting yourself into” category of both sexes. If you remember that it’s supposed to be a celebration, a party, it can go a long way in helping keep it in context. Most try to emulate fairytale celebrations of the super rich. You go before a judge, they say ‘Congrats, you’re married’, you pay the fee, sign the paperwork before a couple witnesses (they’ll even supply them if you dont have any), and voila, you’re off to Disneyland or wherever. Seems more about not wanting to have a grand wedding but feeling pressured to do so because it is expected of you and then blaming society for that. Pretty cheap and hassle free compared to the big ceremony bs. Just have a nice vacation, and you’re good to go. Naa… Weddings are the best. A fantastic party, everyone is happy to be there and enjoying every second of it. BUT you have to do it right. Do not invite everybody just because “you have to”. It is your party and you can choose who do you want to be there. It can be small-ish and by that it gets cheaper. The only important expenditures are someone (or a group) to take care of the music and a photograph (can be a friend with that hobby) because these are memories you will want to keep.
