What you described is abuse. When I was maybe 7-8 I really wanted to try orange juice on my cereal but my parents said if I did that I had to eat the whole bowl. It’s baffling to me that the parents didn’t think of this first and just pour a little OJ over a few pieces of cereal in a cup first, instead of pouring and wasting a whole bowl of both. You want to try it? Maybe you should just try a small amount first? No, you want a full bowl? Okay, but you have to eat whatever you pour. Kids are weird, and sometimes you think you’re helping by giving them a small taste of something but they react violently. My daughter would accuse me of not letting her have what she wants even though I’d tell her this is just a taste and if she likes it she can have more. So, I’d let her pour the normal sized bowl. Of course, she’d also eat it, telling me how delicious it is while clearly not enjoying a single bite. I just made this comment above: “My dad and step grandmother did this to me. If i wouldn’t finish my peas (which made me gag), they would spank me and give my ice cream cone dessert to my sister instead and have her eat it in front of me. Or send me to bed early. It’s abuse and it’s terrible. I hate peas to this day from the experiences and I’m 38 now.”
