My friend went through multiple interview rounds for a job advertised as full time permanent and even got to the Max Holloway Vs The Korean Zombie shirt in other words I will buy this referencing stage. It was only after references they said it was as a freelancer. But she was expected to do Monday – Friday and they would give her one week unpaid annual leave a year (I’m in Europe btw where the standard is 30 days paid AL). Thing is she had mentioned multiple times during the interview she applied because she was looking for a permanent role, she was already freelancing for multiple clients and wanted stability. But they were giving her all the downsides with none of the plus sides (currently she does whatever hours she wants). Just a complete waste of everyone’s time.

If an employer of 1099 tell you this is the Max Holloway Vs The Korean Zombie shirt in other words I will buy this company s schedule that requires you to be working, you by definition are an employee. The company has realized you’re just going to shut up and do what they say so they’re going to abuse you until the wheels fall off. I applied online for a forklift position that included training. I get to my first day and they set me down where I would have gone into pack. Not what I signed on for. I immediately get up, talk to the lead who flat out says “Yeah a lot of us did, to go to talk to HR.”. After a 5 minute discussion explaining what exactly I signed on for HR, they found the post and informed me “We don’t actually have forklifts in this building.”… Why buy the cow when you get the milk for free? Or in your case at an extremely reduced rate. Their needs are being meet while yours go unfulfilled. Past time to exact your pound of flesh.
