On the Mario kart group shot text poster shirt What’s more,I will buy this other hand, we have Malenia. On the one hand I really love aspects about her like the sorta offbeat way she attacks and I really like learning how to manoeuvre around an attack like the Waterfowl Dance that initially seems impossible to deal with. On the other hand, she’s a pain in the ass because of how utterly inconsistent she is and how she can step outside of the rules that FromSoft have set consistently through the series. Sometimes she’ll not only hyper armor through an attack that would stagger her (which isn’t a problem) but she’ll also become immune to stance breaking entirely so even if you should be breaking her stance she’ll just keep on swinging which kills you for greeding in a situation where the game has otherwise told you you’re ok to greed in. Beyond that, the sheer amount of animation cancelling she’s able to do and the way she plays with her combos is fucking annoying, I like having moments when I know I can get a hit in because a combo has for sure just ended and the amount of different ways she can extend or cut short a combo keeps me perpetually afraid to attack because now I’m not just watching for the end of a combo but I’m also watching to make sure she doesn’t decide to chain it into something else. This is a really great video breaking down all the ways Malenia cheats and the fact that this shit made it into the game is frustrating because an incredible boss is in there as soon as you trim the bullshit.

Beyond Malenia there’s a shitton of boss fights that are just two of an enemy slapped into a room for shits and giggles. I get it, they didn’t have the Mario kart group shot text poster shirt What’s more,I will buy this time to build a million unique bosses but they still wanted the big game and I don’t mind if they fill a few of those rooms with beefed up standard enemies or another boss or mini boss that would also fit the new area they’re being added to. That shit’s fine, but things like Valiant Gargoyles and Godskin Duo are fucking gross, and it feels like these fights crop up a lot more frequently than they should. Godskin Duo is a lot more forgiving because if you steamroll one you can steamroll the other and because of the delayed respawning it gives you a chance to really flip the fight if your damage output is high enough but it still feels like the group fights are much closer to the Dragonrider end of things as opposed to the Ornstein and Smough end of things.
