However, if we’re being honest rock and roll is a bigger part of what culture, white or black? I didn’t realize this until I became friends with lots of international students. It’s the same thing as saying Americans don’t have an accent. Everyone has culture and everyone has an accent. I think the only people saying the US doesn’t have a culture haven’t interacted with other cultures. What people mean is that we don’t have a long cultural history (as white/black/Asian Americans, native Americans certainly do). But if that’s what they mean they should be saying that. If I’m American and I go to another country, people are gonna notice my cultural customs. I’m not just gonna immediately fit in if I went to Taiwan for example. I’m gonna come off as American The fact that you listed “swing music” in a list of “white American culture” is hysterical because swing music and dance is THE black music and dance of the early 20th century.

If someone says you have no culture, they’re not literally saying your culture doesn’t exist, but rather that your culture has no value and isn’t worthy of recognition.
