Regardless, front-desk has always been able to make decent recommendations on food and entertainment on any hotel that I have stayed at. I rented an Airbnb in like 2015 in downtown Santa Monica. It was dirty, it had literally no dishes or cups, and one roll of toilet paper. Now it was cheaper than todays airbnbs but not sure if it really was with inflation over the years. Maybe $200/night. If someone showed up to an Airbnb like that today they’d flip a shit. Now for marginally more money you get the most needy guests, with high expectations, that damage your shit. I’d never ask a host that information – and I actually think almost all the places I’ve stayed have been managed by a property management company. Sure some places do do more than others, providing the addresses of the nearest supermarket, chemist, bank etc but you can tell it’s not like they spent ages putting it together!
