This is so sad. My Dad and mom did a lot of cooking for us growing up and even to this day when I go visit my parents they usually have a new recipe they want us to try. My dad made elaborate breakfasts every Saturday morning. He also bakes. He will still make us breakfast if we’re there to visit. My mom is an excellent cook and usually my Dad was right beside her making the Made In America With Guyanese Parts Guyanese Flag T-Shirt But I will love this side dishes and chopping or mixing for her. I will never understand men who don’t try to cook. There’s no way they can’t figure it out – they just don’t want to. Sounds like he was pampered to the max. If he can’t cook and won’t clean, how is he helping your life? My wife and I have an arrangement. Her mental and physical illnesses make it harrowing to hold a job, but she enjoys having the house in order her way. I have a high stress, relatively high paying job and the ability to manage our finances, but little energy for housework and a lot of need to decompress. So…. we meet in the middle. She takes care of the house at her pace and schedule, and I provide the money and management, and muscle where needed.

I can’t imagine a relationship functioning without this kind of compromise and support. I wonder what you would have gotten out of that at all. You had another child basically. Male here, mom taught me basics on how to cook, and I learned on my own. For whatever reason I still can’t follow a recipe or bake anything, but I can just freestyle cook damn near anything. Its not hard. Put raw meat on metal pan, apply heat, turn. It will cook itself, done. Pour water in metal pot, heat, it will boil, add pasta, take out after 10min. Done. holy shit, so after 2 and a half hours he wasn’t able to finish a 20 minute recipe? That’s peak useless if you ask me. I remember an episode of a popular dutch dating show where a guy was going to make breakfast for a girl.
