This exact thing happened to me 3 years ago, but in a different field. All I did personally was reiterate my strengths and how it would greatly benefit them, tell them I was looking for a long term position (which was honest) and tell them I would not be willing to accept any offer that wouldn’t increase my current salary and include a starting bonus (in my case). I ended up with 3$ more/h than where I was at, and a 2500$ bonus. I won’t lie, the Los Angeles Dodgers MLB Take October 2023 Postseason shirt But I will love this hiring manager did not reply for close to a week. It was nerve racking as hell, but at the end of the day I had nothing to lose. I had a job I was okay with (not extremely happy but not doing horrible either) and if the offer hadn’t gone through I’m sure I would’ve found another job later on with what I was looking for. After 1 year it increased a further 3$/h and also included a car allowance after they knew I was serious about holding the job long term and they understood I truly worked as hard as I said I did.

In your case I would do the Los Angeles Dodgers MLB Take October 2023 Postseason shirt But I will love this same. Mention that the salary offered was well under expectation and your current market value for your expertise and experience. You would be very inclined to entertain an offer that would increase your current salary but wouldn’t accept an offer for any less than X. (In your case I’d you’d only leave for 106k then say that) and say you are willing to work with the company to find a pay structure that would have you attain that salary. If that means matching your current salary and adding a year end bonus? Or including an extra week or two of paid vacation off the hop? Or starting bonus? Or retention bonus? Or retirement contributions? Guaranteed promotion after a set time with an increase in pay? A guaruntee increase after 1 year? There are many options for total compensation.
