In the London Palladium 1973 Tony Bennet London Concert Lonnie Donegan T-Shirt moreover I love this supported living situation I am in at the minute, I work with 5 vulnerable people and only one needs help with the toilet due to being non verbal and not giving us much warning when he needs to go lol. Two need help with bathing and pretty much all of them need help with brushing their teeth and being reminded about it. Lifting people isn’t something most companies focus on because it’s the biggest reason people in care end up off sick, due to back problems. People who need to be constantly moved because they can’t move themselves usually have a mechanical hoist to do the lifting. In the UK though, there’s an absolute ton of temporary agency staff working in care jobs. In my area these are usually Polish or South African people on work visas. I could probably get past the bathing awkwardness since I’ve been to a public pool, it’s the toilet/butt/poop stuff that grosses me out lol. Also, thank you for what you do, you help prevent a lot of resentment and burnout, and you’re allowing people to be able to live their own lives without feeling trapped or constantly on call! Housing is likely your biggest obstacle. You can get jobs as a live in carer but they tend not to hire temporary or agency staff for these jobs because they are usually extremely specific care routines.

For example, one local job of this type was for end of life care to a person suffering from late stage MS. I’m gonna be honest, that job was extremely heartbreaking pretty much constantly and I was only there for a couple of hours a day since they couldn’t get the London Palladium 1973 Tony Bennet London Concert Lonnie Donegan T-Shirt moreover I love this staff. Housing in the UK is a bit ridiculous right now. I live in a relatively cheap area and my rent is £470 for a fairly small two bedroom flat. In America, you would basically fit my entire flat in your standard living room lol. The money I’m paying is cheap, most flats for two bedrooms are now between £600-800 a month in the area. To put this in perspective, I’m a mature uni student and working 30 hours a week, with most people working 40 hours here but care work usually asks you if you want to work over 45 hours and ask you to sign a form to agree to it. You don’t have to though and I recommend not letting them pressure you into it… They tried sticking me with 65 hours a week on a previous job when I only asked for 20 because of this. I bring home £1300 after income tax. Council tax is £120 ish, car tax is £28, electric is around £120, food around £60 for me and £30 for my dog but lots of people spend £100+ on food (I used to be a chef so I save lots of money cooking).
