We’re trying to teach him it’s ok to say he doesn’t like something but that some days, even if he doesn’t like it, he’s going to have to try it and eat some of it because you can’t eat peanut butter sandwiches every night. Keep in mind he doesn’t eat sugar candy or anything of the Let the shenanigans begin Saint Patrick’s day shirt but in fact I love this sort. But he’ll fill up on bananas and cheese before eating tortilini. It’s hard to understand what kids are really thinking and a lot of parents are just so used to this « I’m not hungry » excuse that they’re like « eat! » It’s also hard to know when you’re raising a kid right or wrong. People are imperfect. They mostly try to do their best. adults like to force kids to do things so they can reinforce the idea that children are property, instead of people Its bad to waste food. Your parents aren’t forcing you to eat out of malicious intentions. Kids don’t like eating greens even if they’re hungry.
Let the shenanigans begin Saint Patrick’s day shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt
During the Let the shenanigans begin Saint Patrick’s day shirt but in fact I love this quarantine I gained a bit of weight, so when I tried to lose it I realized that I needed to eat more than I was already eating. I had to force down a lot of the food. Sometimes its not the fact that you’re full that you don’t wanna eat, its more because you don’t have an appetite. Anyway, this thing where parents force their children to behave and finish their meals is something that you mostly see in Asian and African household, and our obesity rate is still lower by a huge margin. Whenever my parents forced me to eat something it was always vegetables. (still don’t like vegetables, but I do finish everything on my plate) The idea behind it often comes from a good place, parents wanting to make sure their kids are getting enough nutrition. But you’re right, the way it’s done can sometimes be a bit much. It’s important for kids to learn about listening to their bodies and understanding when they’re full. Forcing them to eat beyond that point might not be the best way to teach those lessons. And you raise a great point about snacks. It’s true that sometimes what’s available can be loaded with sugar and all sorts of stuff. It’s not the kids’ fault for liking those things, they’re designed to be super appealing! Maybe there’s a middle ground where we can help kids make good choices without making them feel guilty about wanting something tasty.
