But if there’s some guy who had his whole family die because a US drone dropped a bomb on his house, then a group comes by and gives him a gun and asks if he wants revenge? You better believe I understand him wanting to join. He’s being manipulated by evil, amoral assholes who need canon fodder for thier ideological bullshit war, yes. But that doesn’t mean I can’t have empathy for the Lalo salamanca graphic better call saul shirt and by the same token and man’s situation. That doesn’t mean I can’t at least try to understand what he’s gone through. He’s a human being, who only ever wanted to live a happy peaceful life (like we ALL do) but can’t because of the childish bullshit of people with money and missiles. I don’t condone terrorism. I don’t condone imperialism. But I do recognize that we the people, whether the citizen of the USA or the citizen of Afghanistan, are both the same in that we are utterly at the mercy of the rich and powerful who only see us as resources to be exploited. I’ve had a really shit life as well. But for some reason I didn’t see invading and killing sovereign/innocent people as a way out.

I mean I agree with you there. But we also have to acknowledge that a lot of people see military service as a noble thing. It’s not, but the Lalo salamanca graphic better call saul shirt and by the same token and propaganda machine of this country is phenomenally effective. By the time they realize they’ve been had (if they even do) its too late. I have respect for anyone who decides to put themselves in danger to help others. It’s not thier fault they’ve been lied to. The nazis thought wiping out Jews, people with disabilities, gypsies, and whoever else they tried to genocide as a noble thing as well. Would you say the same for black/brown/Muslim terrorists? It’s not their fault that they were lied to? Do you have respect for them as well? Of course I do. I feel like you’re putting words in my mouth. I’m not saying that anything the us military does is good. I’m just saying that we need to recognize that many people are being victimized by the system at home too.
