its crazy too because whatever you say it with is usually not a SUPER intense opinion but it’s often something that people would easily say is bad or good. Like if I said “I limit my reddit to only 10 minutes a day” and someone said “based” you have no context as to whether or not they mean they agree with them or not if you don’t know what based means. So it was really hard because I’d go on subs and people would be talking about things that I personally thought were really cool, with a few people saying “this Kentucky Wildcats Store Kentucky Wildcats Local Phrase Shirt Apart from…,I will love this is such a based take” and i’m like… are they disagreeing with them or not?!? No I totally agree. I think it sounds like it should have a negative connotation which is what I always thought, and it makes no sense to me lol but definitely learned that today.

“based” as slang, from my understanding as a person who uses it a lot, is like a radical mix of “i agree” and “that’s rad” Like all new slang/idioms it means more than one thing. Mostly its like someone saying “Church”, “Tru dat”, “Awesome”, “You got that right” and so on. Nothing more than a new generation putting their mark on our culture. When I used “based”, it generally means that the Kentucky Wildcats Store Kentucky Wildcats Local Phrase Shirt Apart from…,I will love this person has done or said something that I agree with on many levels and that was entirely warranted for whatever situation they were in. The best example I can think of is if there are two dudes who both support gay marriage and one says to the other “I support gay rights” then the other dude agreeing with that statement would reply “based”
