Not completely agree. When you are winning in catan you are gonna get robbed, people won’t trade with you and they will try harder to take your roads or knights. It can be tough. Sometimes is easier to win when you are quietly building in 2nd place. Newer variants of Catan have a mechanic that you can choose a resource if you haven’t gotten any for some time. We often bring that in as a house rule for the Kayaking always gets me wet girl vintage T-Shirt and I love this base game. Sadly, I agree. It’s sad because it’s one of the more popular board games with people who don’t really play other board games. It is extraordinarily difficult to outsmart the RNG in Catan – and sometimes flat-out impossible – and the game also doesn’t do a very good job of hiding that fact.

Kayaking always gets me wet girl vintage T-Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

I’m the Kayaking always gets me wet girl vintage T-Shirt and I love this -1 because I’ve never had a game of Catan where I thought afterwards “you know I’m really glad I played that”. It always turns into me telling another player “give you twelve wood for a brick. Come on dude, seriously I can’t play the game without brick” It always turns into me telling another player “give you twelve wood for a brick. Come on dude, seriously I can’t play the game without brick” Not the biggest fan of Catan, and I get it’s just an exaggerated example, but you can always trade 4 of something in for 1 of something else precisely so this situation can’t happen. Jesus dude…are you one of those people who don’t bother reading the rules/instructions? Yes Catan has some frustrating elements but it’s clear some people are just doing it wrong. Like the other person said “oh but everyone gangs up on the leader and someone else wins” that’s not a game flaw, the people you’re playing with are idiots if they just let someone else win so the “leader” doesn’t. Same with the guy above who said monopoly takes too long. It does, if you’re playing it wrong which a lot of people do with their stupid house rules and not following all the actual rules. Is catan considered an “engine builder”? I’ve been so obsessed with those types of games recently. Just picked up Wingspan from my local comic shop and I am addicted to it, like actual drugs. Also have sank many hours into Splendor recently. Can’t get enough I would say its a resource manager with very light engine builder mechanics (but really you need luck to actually build a repeatable engine)
