I need a basic, good quality black leather belt with a minimal gold buckle. I have a couple belts from Madewell but I don’t like their darker antiqued brass hardware anymore. I want a finish that looks more like real gold (color-wise anything 14k-24k is ok), no Western details, and no thin/skinny widths. While I’d love to grab a designer one someday (Celine, Toteme, Cartier), my budget is around $150 now. Willing to spend a bit more for something that ticks all the Just A Girl Who Loves Turtle Watercolor Sea Ocean Lovers T-Shirt and I love this boxes. I looked at a lot of mid-range “mall” and department store websites. So far I found this Aritzia belt and this Sezane belt. Any recommendations would be much appreciated! If anyone has experience with Toteme’s belts, I’d love your opinion on durability.

I’ve been eying the Just A Girl Who Loves Turtle Watercolor Sea Ocean Lovers T-Shirt and I love this Montagne leather belt at Banana Republic, but at least on the Canadian site it’s nearly sold out now. I’ve owned the hinge belt for about 10 years (I clean and condition to protect about 2-3 times per year) and it looks brand new! Id also check out Rebecca Minkoff for edgier styles but I prefer Reiss for classics that aren’t too boring. It’s actually a little too small. You can see from the side view that it’s not big enough for the bust, so the side seam is being pulled forward and distorted. However I think sizing up would give an unflatteringly voluminous look because there’s no shoulder seam to define the garment width. A top with extra fabric in the front, such as a cowl neck, would accommodate the bust without the need for extra fabric all round or oversized shoulders.
