If you are non degreed but in a somewhat skilled trade, if you aren’t earning at least 60 after 5 or 10 years you’re doing something wrong. Neither my wife or I hold any degree. I did a single semester in college and she never went. We both make $70k each in live in SE Louisiana. We’re both under 40yo. We have a very comfortable lifestyle raising two kids. We’ve owned two homes and are on our 3rd (moved further from the Just A Girl Who Loves Fall and Mountaineers Peanuts Cartoon Halloween Shirt and I love this coast due to hurricanes). We paid cash for a $50k solar panel and battery back up system, own two Teslas, and about to install a $70k pool and outdoor kitchen area. After all our bills are paid (this includes a mortgage, two car notes, all utilities and groceries) we have a little over $3k left per month. None of this was easy. Managing money and making sure every bill is paid on time to have good credit is the goal. I may not have $70k but someone is willing to loan it to us because of our credit history. My wife and I have very good work ethic. We have gone through very tough times too. She was laid off while 6 months pregnant with our youngest. I was making maybe $35k at the time. Back then we lived in a 1100 sqft home with two POS Saturn’s for vehicles. We qualified for WIC. Her first job afterward wasn’t until after our youngest was 18 months old. She took a job that paid barely enough to cover daycare expenses. Never wanted or needed help from family. It’s very hard work but it’s all possible and even probable if you stick to it.

Im in IT and I seem to get increases of 15-20k every 2-4 years. Im always in demand and get job offers all the Just A Girl Who Loves Fall and Mountaineers Peanuts Cartoon Halloween Shirt and I love this time without applying for jobs. If you have needed skills employers will compete for them with money. If you dont have needed skills, you are unskilled labor and are disposable. It sucks but in order to make any real money you need in demand skills or you need to make your own company. Just working and hoping seniority and experience will raise your pay high enough is just not really going to happen in most cases. They can let you go and hire someone for less than you and train them. There is no need to compete for you or keep you. Companies have no loyalties. A bachelors degree is non specific and unhelpful. I dont have one. You need specific training on skills most people do not have that are needed. Through the whole pandemic my job was never in danger and I even got a raise during that time. Cuz companies dont care, they have to NEED you.
